Arch Now Accepts Large Lots of Gold Filled Jewelry to Refine

In the past we have talked about the difference between karat gold, gold filled, rolled gold and plated gold. Out of all of these we only accepted karat gold, but we are now accepting large lots of gold filled jewelry. This includes necklaces, bracelets, watches, earrings, eyeglass frames or other gold jewelry items.

Gold filled jewelry and other items may be marked “GF” and found in 1/10 10k GF, 1/20 10k GF, 1/10 12k GF, 1/20 12k GF, 1/10 14k GF and 1/20 14k GF grades, to name but a few. Gold filled is different than the rolled gold and gold plating technique because it typically utilizes a hollow gold tube that is filled with another non-precious metal. Rolled gold and gold plating techniques involved covering a non-precious metal with a very thin layer of gold. Arch Enterprises does not refine rolled gold or gold plated materials.

If you are a jeweler, eyeglass manufacturer, or pawn shop that has a large amount of gold filled items, please contact us to we can discuss the volume of your material, the grade and give an estimate based on this information.

So to sum up, Arch DOES ACCPT the following:

  • 10k gold, 14k gold, 18k gold, 24k gold
  • 1/10 10k GF, 1/20 10k GF, 1/10 12k GF, 1/20 12k GF, 1/10 14k GF and 1/20 14k GF

Arch DOES NOT ACCEPT the following:

  • Rolled Gold
  • Gold Plated Items

We will however except samples and make assessments in some situations.

Sell a 14 Karat Gold Fraternity Ring for the Gold Value

Question/Answer: I am not sure about the weight but I am trying to save up money to buy a car so I would like to know how much I could get for this ring?? From Rob from Manchester, CT

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your question. Gold rings can range in their weight and purity/karat value. The rings that we see are normally about 0.5 to 1 ounces in weight. Since you mention that you have a gold fraternity ring, your ring may be on the heavier side, as men’s fraternity rings tend to be larger in size.

With the price of gold at *$1,642.60 USD/troy ounce right now, you may expect to received $400 – $880.00 for a 14 k gold ring weighting 0.5 to 1 ounces, however this will depend on the weight of gold and the purity of your gold ring.

Also keep in mind that many times class rings contain a gem. As precious metal refiners, we do not pay returns on gems or precious stones. Make sure that you remove any gems, diamonds or stones and do not include them in your precious metal weight.

Our payout schedule on gold depends on the purity and amount that you have. We could pay 80% of the gold value back to you if you have between 0.5 – 1ounce of fine gold.

Where to Sell Processed Gold Ore

Question: Do you buy the gold ore that has been processed into coin size pieces? It is gold “mined” by family and friends. I have about 4.1 troy ounces of this 22 kt. Gold. From Virginia in Las Vegas, Nevada

Hi Virginia,

Yes, we do buy gold ore. Do you have any documentation about the purity of your gold ore? If not we would run some tests with our XRF (X-ray fluorescence) equipment to find what the percentage of gold is in your ore.

To get a general estimate of your gold ore I would recommend going to our gold conversion calculator. By plugging in the weight (4.1 troy ounces), purity (22 kt.) and daily gold price ($1,725.90 today) you will get the market value of your gold items. Arch could pay more than 90% of the gold value back to you if you have over 2 ounces of pure gold available from your ore.

Thanks for your question!

Sell Dental Gold to Dental Refiners

I have .52576 oz Yellow Dental Gold And .73968 oz of Hi Noble Dental Gold. How much can I receive for this material? –From a dentist in Chicago, Illinois.

Dental Gold RefinersThank you for your question. Because dental gold is usually not marked, it can be difficult to determine the gold purity without the right testing equipment. That is why selling this type of gold at a pawn shop or gold party may not yield the highest or more accurate returns.
Most dental gold is 16k gold which is 66.66% gold. However, we find dental gold to be as high as 85% gold while other dental gold items have been as low as 15%. We run tests with an XRF analytical machine to determine how much gold is available to refine.

With the amount of dental gold you have, we would estimate that we could offer about 85% of the gold value back to you. As the price of gold changes daily, we use the price of the day that your shipment arrives at our facility.

Find all of our blog postings about selling dental gold on our dental refining category.

Sell Gold Jewelry Scrap & Sterling Silver

I have about 12 ounces of jewelry scrap from about 60 years ago. I think it might be gold but have not gotten a definitive answer yet. Can I send you some samples? I also have 5 to 10 pounds of old sterling silver and would like to know its value (buckles, money clips, pins, etc.) Can you also let me know if you would be interested in buying it? Thanks. From Mary in Rochester, New York

Hi Mary,

Thank you for your question. Sounds like you are doing some cleaning which could result in some extra cash for you, which is always a plus.

Since you are unsure about the purity of your gold items, we would test your pieces, refine gold that is9 karat purity (37.44% gold) or more and then either send back what is not able to refine or we could recycle it for you. If you have specific instructions for us, please indicate those on our packaging slip.

5-10 pounds of sterling silver is a large range. If your pieces are pure sterling silver, 92.5% silver, at a $35 silver price, 5 pounds of sterling silver could be worth over $2,000 silver value.  Arch would be able to pay 75% of the silver value back to you on your pieces. However, if not all of your pieces are sterling, we would recommend sorting the items you know are sterling and then check to see if your other pieces are sterling or not.

It may be better to send all of your pieces together, but would help if you kept the gold separated from the silver in different bags.

Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any more questions. Or you can upload an image to show up on our Contact Form.
